Put very simply, Olympic Weightlifting consists of two different lifts, the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.
The snatch consists of the lifter moving the bar from the ground to overhead in a single move. The Clean & Jerk involves the lifter moving the bar from the ground to overhead in two seperate moves: from the ground to the shoulders (the clean) and from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk).
